Stair ramp collapses in a building, injured a woman

(ANSA) – PETILIA POLICASTRO, 07 DEC – A 62-year-old woman was injured in the collapse of an external reinforced concrete staircase from a three-storey building in Piazza San Francesco, in Cosenza. The accident occurred shortly before 11.30. The lady was walking up the stairs to the third floor when it collapsed causing her to end up on the lower flight. The woman, who reported more trauma, was rescued by Suem 118 and taken to hospital in Crotone. It is not life threatening.

Upon arrival at the site of the firefighters of the detachment of Petilia Policastro, the situation was critical. The collapsed ramp was dilapidated and two other families residing in the building were blocked. A fire brigade ladder was used to evacuate the people who remained in their homes.

The mayor Simone Saporito ordered the evacuation of the building for safety reasons. The families found accommodation in the homes of relatives. (HANDLE).
