(ANSA) – PAVIA, 16 DEC – They are accused of having resold the drug seized during numerous investigations and that the police took to an incinerator in the province of Pavia to have it destroyed. Ten employees of a company that manages a disposal plant in Parona (Pavia), in Lomellina, were arrested this morning by the Pavia carabinieri as part of an investigation conducted by the Pavia Public Prosecutor, in particular by the deputy prosecutor Mario Venditti and by the substitute Andrea Zanoncelli.

The ten arrested (8 Italians, a Moroccan and an Albanian), all with a clean record and residing in the province of Pavia (except one who lives in the Milanese area) are under house arrest: the charges against them are drug dealing and aggravated theft in competition.

The carabinieri were suspicious of the fact that the particular conformation of the factory’s conveyor belts, which lead to the two incineration ovens, did not allow the police to follow the entire route of the drug. A detail that allowed, according to the reconstruction of the investigators, the arrested employees to intercept the packages containing the drug during their journey on the tape and then resell it to a “wholesaler” linked to the shop (in turn arrested).

During the operation, the military seized 2 kg of hashish, 27 kg of marijuana and 1 kg of cutting substance.

The investigation started in October; the investigators do not exclude that this illicit activity has already begun for some time and that in the past the arrested have had the opportunity to get out of the plant (point of reference of several commands of the police in the North-West area) considerable quantities of narcotic, including cocaine.
