(ANSA) – BARI, 17 DEC – On charges of sexual violence, the Police, delegated by the Taranto prosecutor, carried out a search against a 40-year-old who pretended to be a gynecologist: the man allegedly contacted and terrorized over 400 women by inducing them to carry out gynecological examinations online. The false gynecologist, according to the accusation, made it clear by telephone to his interlocutors that he was aware of clinical tests carried out in various health facilities throughout Italy and said that they were probably suffering from serious vaginal infections. During the search, smartphones, memory media and sim cards were confiscated.
The 40-year-old is seriously suspected of being the perpetrator of the conduct that since September 2021 has led many women to file a complaint at the offices of the Postal Police following receiving phone calls from a man who introduced himself as a gynecologist. The 40-year-old was identified through the analysis of telephone and telematic data, the checks carried out on audio files of the telephone calls recorded by the victims and, above all, the collaboration of the latter. The story – explains the Police – would affect over 400 women throughout Italy whose data, from the first findings, would seem to have been obtained from the consultation of online trading announcements portals.
