(ANSA) – PADUA, DEC 20 – A 48-year-old man was arrested by the carabinieri on charges of attempting to kill his ex-wife, saved by military intervention. The carabinieri, alerted by several citizens, intervened under the Belvedere tower, the blue building located in front of the Padua station, because the man was astride his ex-wife and was banging her head on the sidewalk.
The arrested man’s name is Ji Yongliang, and an execution order of six years and eight months for sexual assault and family violence dating back to last June hung on his head.
The woman will be transferred to a protected facility in the province of Padua. The ex-husband had managed to obtain information on his whereabouts; he knew in fact that she would be with a friend on Sunday afternoon. He then waited for her on the landing and beaten her up using a screwdriver, enough to fracture her left orbital bone. The woman is in hospital, the prognosis is reserved, but she is not in danger of life. (HANDLE).
