(ANSA) – CAGLIARI, 23 DEC – On the day when there are over a thousand first doses and a new boom of thirds (almost 13,700) in Sardinia, the Gimbe Foundation highlights that the population that has completed the vaccination cycle is equal to 79, 2% (Italian average 77.9%) to which an additional 2.6% (Italian average 3.1%) must be added who, on the other hand, has only the first dose.

According to the government report, on the island, there are still 256,452 people not yet vaccinated, including 81,849 children between 5 and 11 years of age for whom the campaign with the new pediatric anti Covid serums started a week ago, exceeding the 3 thousand doses already administered in this age group.

Currently the residents vaccinated with two doses are 1,265,773.

Meanwhile, Gimbe also highlights that in the week between 15 and 21 December the currently positive cases for Covid 19 in Sardinia rise from 210 to 261 per 100,000 inhabitants and there is an increase in new cases of 43.7% compared to the previous week, when the increase was 17%.

The incidence in the metropolitan city of Cagliari doubled again for the second week in a row (from 69 to 123), while it remained stable in the Nuorese area (120). Followed by Oristano with 118 per 100 thousand inhabitants, Sassari and South Sardinia with 92.

The number of beds in the medical area (7%) and in intensive care (6%) occupied by Covid patients is below the saturation threshold, even if an increase compared to the previous survey.

In the last 24 hours there have been 344 positive cases (+ 40), based on 4,335 people tested. Processed in total, between molecular and antigenic, 11,817 swabs for a positive rate of 2.9%. Two victims: a 58-year-old man living in the province of Nuoro and an 86-year-old from the Metropolitan City of Cagliari. The number of patients admitted to intensive care units is stable, 11, while the number of patients admitted to the medical area is 127 (+ 6).

In Sassari, a doctor from the infectious diseases department and a medical health worker tested positive.

Both had already had the third dose of the vaccine, they are fine and are in home isolation. (HANDLE).
