(ANSA) – TRIESTE, DEC 25 – An 81-year-old man died in the fire in his home that broke out at around 11pm last night in Sacile (Pordenone), on the sixth floor of a building that has been completely evacuated, in viale Zancanaro.
The Fire Brigade intervened on the spot with 25 operators and 10 vehicles from Pordenone, Maniago and Conegliano. Upon arrival at the scene, the flames had already spread to the entire apartment. While one team was trying to put out the fire with a ladder truck from the outside, another was making sure that the building was completely evacuated. Only later the firefighters were able to enter the building to proceed with the extinguishing from the inside. At that stage, they found the lifeless body of the old man on the stairs.
To assist and check the health conditions of the condominiums, medical personnel intervened with two ambulances, the self-medical and an additional team arrived on site with the regional night helicopter. The Carabinieri of Sacile were also present on the spot.
Three of the twenty-five apartments are currently uninhabitable.
The causes of the fire are being examined by the judicial police of the Fire Brigade of Pordenone. (HANDLE).
