In early February 2022, the Servant of the People party plans to make the first decisions on the application of an imperative mandate to local deputies from a political force. Olena Shulyak, head of the Servant of the People party, said this in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
“Next year we will definitely apply an imperative mandate to local deputies. Today, all regional organizations are preparing the appropriate lists. They will prepare them this year, that is, so that in January-February 2022 we can apply this procedure. in early February there will be appropriate decisions: they will be adopted by regional organizations, and approved by the party leadership. This is a serious sanction, so in each case we will carefully study before making a final decision, “she said.
Shulyak noted that there is a certain legal procedure for the application of the imperative mandate, therefore, in order to fully understand the situation on the ground, the regional organizations were tasked to prepare a list of persons who would become candidates “for departure.”
Speaking about how many local deputies out of a total of 6.4 thousand can be discussed, the head of the Servant of the People party noted that “so far no one can say this, because regional organizations have just now received the task to provide lists of such deputies “.
An imperative mandate is a restriction in the actions of an elected official by any conditions, in case of violation of which he can be withdrawn.
