(ANSA) – SARTIRANA LOMELLINA (PAVIA), DEC 27 – She would have tried to cross the tracks at the station, but was hit by a passing train at low speed. A tragic imprudence seems to be at the origin of the death of a 61-year-old woman, Giuseppina Camussi, residing in Sartirana Lomellina, the town where the accident took place a few minutes after 5pm today. The woman did not die instantly, but the intervention of the 118 rescuers, who tried to revive her on the spot, was of no use. The intervention of two helicopters had also been requested, from Brescia and Alessandria, both of which were not available for technical reasons.
The railway traffic on the Mortara-Alessandria section was temporarily suspended to allow surveys, entrusted to the railway police with the help of the carabinieri.
The incident had no witnesses, but some elements suggest that the woman was crossing the tracks and would rule out the voluntary gesture. (HANDLE).
