(ANSA) – ROME, JANUARY 09 – A cold disturbance is crossing all of Italy, causing a drop in temperatures and snowfall up to hilly altitudes on part of the South. This is indicated by a weather alert from the Civil Protection.
From today the notice foresees snowfalls on average above 500-700 meters in Campania, Basilicata and Puglia, with weak to moderate contributions to the ground. Strong to stormy winds are also expected over eastern Emilia-Romagna, Marche, Tuscany, Umbria, Lazio, extending from the early hours of tomorrow to Abruzzo, Molise, Puglia, Campania and Basilicata with further temporary gusts up to strong storms on coastal and Apennine areas; strong to stormy winds then expected on Sicily and Calabria. Heavy storms expected along the exposed coasts.
Evaluated for tomorrow’s orange alert for hydrogeological risk on the northern area of Puglia.
Furthermore, the yellow alert was assessed for hydrogeological risk, hydraulic risk and storm risk on Abruzzo, Molise and on some sectors of Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria and Sicily.
