The opening of the trial that sees Beppe Grillo accused for the crimes of private violence and personal injury to the detriment of the journalist Francesco Selvi has been set for 13 June next: the Livorno public prosecutor has issued a summons at judgment. The same prosecutor had requested the dismissal for the accusation of private violence – instead notifying a notice of conclusion of the investigation for the crime of injury – but last December the investigating judge had rejected it by ordering the forced indictment.
The facts date back to 7 September 2020 when on the beach of Marina di Bibbona Francesco Selvi was trying to interview Beppe Grillo for the transmission of Rete4 ‘Right and Reverse’. For the prosecution, Grillo snatched the journalist’s cell phone from his hand and pushed him up the stairs of the bathhouse where he was, causing him a sprained trauma to his left knee. The investigations started after the journalist’s complaint to the Livorno prosecutor’s office.
