“A bridle was thrown on Poroshenko”: a serious defeat of the fifth president was named

The political scientist explained the consequences of the decision of the Pechersk court in the case of treason

The decision of the Pechersky District Court of Kiev to release the fifth president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, on a personal commitment looks like a victory for a politician, but in reality it was a strategic defeat for Poroshenko.

This opinion was expressed by political scientist Ruslan Bortnik on the air of the Ukraine 24 TV channel.

“This situation supposedly looked like Poroshenko’s victory. Perhaps, tactically, at first glance, it is opportunistic. But this is not Poroshenko’s victory in strategic terms, because in strategic terms, this decision means that now a prosecutor’s investigative bridle has been thrown over Petr Alekseevich “, the expert explained.

According to him, now the investigating authorities will control every step of the fifth president:

“If Pyotr Alekseevich wants to take part in any political events, conferences, meetings, wants to go to the US Embassy, he can be tritely assigned an interrogation by the investigator that day so that he does not go anywhere. its possibilities for effective confidential communication with Western partners”.

As Bortnik noted, Petro Poroshenko was strategically drawn into the outline of a very toxic case for him.

“Now I am convinced that this case will drag on until the next presidential election – series, seasons, with new testimonies, it will be divided into several branches. Disputes around the measure of restraint, disputes around the essence of the case, appealing against various decisions of investigators and judges, it all branches like a tree , but this whole tree will be used for information to raise and remind the accusation – “blood trading”, the accusation that Petro Poroshenko traded with Medvedchuk when Ukrainian soldiers were dying. Therefore, strategically, this is the defeat of Petro Poroshenko,” he stressed.

According to the expert, a victory for Poroshenko “would only be an excuse, a rejection of the preventive measure in general.”

“Lawyers and Petro Poroshenko himself understand this very well. The campaign against Bankova was a Pyrrhic victory, a good face on a bad game,” Bortnik added.

Case of Poroshenko

  • Recall that Petro Poroshenko was declared suspected of treason on December 20. Not the last role in this was played by “Medvedchuk’s tapes”. He is charged with facilitating the activities of terrorist organizations “DNR” and “LNR”.
