Reply from the Prime Minister
Also, according to Goncharenko, a response was received from the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.
The prime minister said that he had sent instructions to the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Defense to consider the issue of abolishing the mandatory military registration of women.
At the same time, the MP himself said that a week ago he submitted a draft law on this issue to the Verkhovna Rada.
What’s happening
On December 17, the order of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine came into force, which approves the list of specialties and professions that are the basis for women who receive them to be registered with the military.
As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers of 1994 provided for about 40 professions/specialties, which were the basis for taking women into military registration.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky called on the Ministry of Defense to reduce the list of professions with mandatory military records for women. In his opinion, the new list of specialties and professions is insufficiently substantiated and too broad.
