The fifth president stressed that Ukraine must become stronger

Three factors can stop the aggression of Russian President Vladimir Putin against Ukraine – Western sanctions, the strengthening of Ukrainian defense capabilities and the Kremlin’s overestimation of its own forces.

This opinion was expressed on the air of the program “Freedom of Speech by Savik Shuster” on TV channel “Ukraine 24” leader of the party “European Solidarity”, the fifth President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

“In order to stop Putin, there must be three factors. The first factor is that Russia must be weak, and powerful “hellish sanctions” that our partners must take will weaken Russia … The second position is that Ukraine must be strong. It will be strong first of all through strengthening the defense capability,” Poroshenko said.

According to him, the authorities should create strategic reserves in case of mobilization.

“I know what it is like to carry out mobilization in the conditions of an empty reserve. We must develop a mobilization plan and launch it from the first minutes of aggression. Now we need to have the first stage of the reserve, we have created it, it is there. But we need clothing, food, combat , fuel, medical and other supplies in order to be able to resist the aggressors,” the politician explained.

According to the fifth president, it is urgent to make changes to the state budget in order to increase funding for the army.

“We need to know what to ask our partners. We must provide air defenses, we must provide an electronic warfare position, we must provide intelligence, we must provide counterbatteries. So Putin will have no illusions about the price he will pay when he goes attack us,” he said.

Poroshenko also stressed that today Putin is drunk on his impunity, and the West can take advantage of this.

The “group of elders” in Russia decides that having won in Crimea and Sevastopol in 2014, as they believe, having won in Donbas, as they believe, having won in Syria, as they believe, they are crazy, having won in Belarus in 2020, having received a victory in Kazakhstan in 2021-2022, today they are drunk on their own impunity, the fact that they can go further and further, because they have not received an appropriate reaction from the world. The world today must make a “hellish response” in case Putin finally goes insane,” the fifth president said.

Russia threatens the West over Ukraine

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, after talks with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on January 21, threatened “serious consequences” in the event of a “large-scale deployment of NATO forces and assets” in Ukraine.

“Blinken has been clearly informed that further disregard for the legitimate concerns of the Russian Federation, related primarily to the ongoing military development by the United States and its NATO allies of the territory of Ukraine against the backdrop of a large-scale deployment of forces and assets of the Alliance near our borders, will have the most serious consequences. avoid, if Washington reacts positively to our draft agreements on security guarantees, a written article-by-article reaction from the American side, to which we expect to receive next week,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

At the same time, Sergei Lavrov said that the Russian Federation is not going to attack Ukraine.

Now, Russia has deployed about 100,000 troops near the borders of Ukraine, and the other day “unexpectedly” began new military exercises. A map of the locations of Russian troops was also published.

Experts call the second half of January the most likely period for an invasion of Ukraine. Allegedly, by this moment the transfer of troops will end, plus negotiations between the Russian Federation and the United States, NATO and the OSCE will take place. But, according to The New York Times, a possible attack is postponed due to the weather.
