School, over 115,000 students in isolation in Lombardy

(ANSA) – MILAN, JAN 26 – New record of infections and quarantines in schools in Lombardy. In the week between 17 and 23 January there are 9,441 classes in isolation, with 115,262 pupils (18,814 in the Milan Ats) and 6,225 school workers in isolation. The new positives in the school population are 62,079, 12% more than the previous week. The most affected are children between 0 and 10 years (with a peak of + 74.39% in the 3-5 range, i.e. those still excluded from vaccines), while infections drop between 11 and 18 years. This was reported in the weekly monitoring report, released by the Welfare Department of the Region.

The report shows that after the Christmas break it is the 0-10 age group who suffer the most, but only the 0-2 age group grows more than in the previous week (+ 37.35%), while in the 6-10 age group ‘weekly increase in infections (+ 24.87%) is almost 13 percentage points lower. The 14-18 range decreased by more than 23%, 3 points less in 7 days. As for vaccination coverage, in the 5-11 year olds, which counts 635,603 children, 34.14% received the first dose and 12.16% completed the cycle. Between the ages of 12 and 19, 87.1% of the audience (789.444) were vaccinated with the first dose, while 81.9% completed the cycle. The booster dose administrations are 187,984. The increase in restrictive measures affects all school cycles, with a major surge in nursery and primary schools. (HANDLE).
