Poroshenko is catching up with Zelensky: a new rating of presidential candidates in Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his predecessor Petro Poroshenko would have made it to the second round of the presidential election if the vote were held soon. At the same time, in recent months, the fifth president of Ukraine has increased his support.

This is evidenced by the results of a sociological study by the Razumkov Center.

In particular, 17.4% of all respondents and 26.0% of those who intend to take part in the elections and have made their choice are ready to vote for Zelensky, 16.2% and 24.2%, respectively, for Poroshenko.

The third place in the rating is occupied by the leader of the Batkivshchyna party Yulia Tymoshenko: 6.9% of all respondents or 10.3% of those who intend to take part in the elections and have made their choice are ready to support her, the fourth place belongs to the ex-Speaker of the Rada Dmytro Razumkov – 5.5% and 8.2% respectively.

People’s Deputy Yuriy Boyko and ex-People’s Deputy Yevgeny Muraev are in fifth place in the rating: 4.7% of all respondents and 7% of respondents who will definitely go to the polls and have made their choice are ready to vote for each.

In addition, 3.6% of all respondents or 5.4% of those who intend to take part in the elections and have made their choice are ready to vote for the former head of the SBU Igor Smeshko, 2.1% and 3% for the former Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman. 1% respectively, for the leader of the Radical Party Oleg Lyashko – 1.3% and 2.0%, for the head of the Opposition Platform for Life Viktor Medvedchuk 1.1% and 1.6%, for the leader of the VO “Svoboda” Oleg Tyagnibok 0.6% and 0 ,9%.

Sociologists report that, compared with October 2021, the ratings of Poroshenko (from 12.7% to 16.2% of all respondents) and Tymoshenko (from 5.0% to 6.9%) have statistically significantly increased, while Groysman’s rating decreased (from 4.1% to 2.1%).

“62.5% of respondents do not support the idea that Volodymyr Zelensky run for his second presidential term in the elections in 2024. 18.6% of respondents would support Zelensky’s running for a second presidential term. The rest of the respondents were undecided,” the statement reads. research.

The sociological survey “Electoral Orientations of Citizens of Ukraine” was conducted by the sociological service of the Razumkov Center from January 28 to 31 by telephone polling.

1206 respondents over 18 years old were interviewed in all regions of Ukraine, with the exception of Crimea and ORDLO.

The theoretical sampling error (excluding the design effect) does not exceed 2.9% with a probability of 0.95.
