The head of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction, David Arakhamia, promised to expel People’s Deputy Alexander Trukhin from the party after the media published a video from the scene of an accident involving Trukhin.
“We were waiting for the official and convincing results of the investigation into the accident, at the site of which Alexander Trukhin was seen. But the footage from the body police cameras says more than he can say in his defense,” said Arakhamia, quoted by the press secretary of the Servant of the People, Yulia Paliychuk .
The head of the Servant of the People faction stressed that he and his colleagues were “ashamed of the behavior of Alexander Trukhin.”
“This is definitely not what we went to the polls with and what the people who voted for us expect from us. I think that Alexander Trukhin has no place either in the faction or in the Servant of the People party. He should immediately withdraw on his own, but even if he does not do this, such a decision will still be made as soon as the epidemiological situation allows us to collect a quorum and hold an effective vote,” he stressed.
Arakhamia added that “in other matters, Alexander Trukhin must cooperate with the investigation in order not to us, but to society, to answer questions regarding the accident and everything that happens after it.”
What was on the scandalous video with Trukhin
The Ukrayinska Pravda publication published a video from the chest cameras of the police officers who were at the scene of the accident, in which the name of the people’s deputy from the Servant of the People Oleksandr Trukhin appears. It follows from the video that the deputy wanted to escape from the scene of the incident, offered to “thank” the police and hinted that he had a bag of money in his car.
Trukhin can be heard addressing the policeman with the words: “Let me quietly go into the forest,” and then promises to “talk” to Interior Minister Denis Monastyrsky.
He also confirmed that he was driving the car involved in the accident.
What is known about the accident
- The accident occurred on August 23, 2021 in the Darnitsky district of Kiev. Six people were seriously injured in it.
- At first, the police did not officially confirm that People’s Deputy Alexander Trukhin was involved in the accident case.
- According to preliminary information, the car in which the people’s deputy was allegedly located, without keeping a safe distance, drove into another car moving ahead. A third vehicle was also damaged.
- The site “Today” figured out the situation with the accident. According to the information that we received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Trukhin was indeed in the car that provoked the accident on the Borispol highway. But the police still have not established whether the deputy was driving.
