The guilt of People’s Deputy Alexander Trukhin, who got into a scandalous accident and offered a bribe to the police, will be difficult to prove, despite the revealing video.
This opinion was expressed by experts on the TV channel “Ukraine 24”.
Lawyer Denis Yaroslavsky claims that “it will never be proven that he (Trukhin – ed.) offered someone a bribe.”
“These are all words. One video will not be enough, despite the fact that they will conduct a phonoscopic examination, confirm his voice, the authenticity of the video. But too much time has passed. Since Patrol Sergeant Petrik did not report in time that he was offered a bribe, the mobile phone of the people’s deputy. Most likely, he called on WhatsApp, there were no traces of communication with anyone. This traffic cannot be traced,” the lawyer explained.
According to him, Article 369 of the Criminal Code, giving or offering a bribe, “will die.”
The scandal will hit the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs
People’s Deputy from “Voice” Roman Kostenko noted that the leadership of law enforcement agencies covered up the scandalous “servant of the people.”
“The authorities do not stop lying. It’s a pity that we saw all this from journalists. We have all the law enforcement agencies that work, which hid all this and did not show the people what really happened there … What will happen to the minister? He needs to be asked specific questions . I’m sure he knew about it,” Kostenko stressed.
Former Deputy Attorney General David Sakvarelidze believes that the scandal with Trukhin will hit the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Denis Monastyrsky.
“This is a very banal situation, which happens not for the first time and not in the first country. The authorities are late with the reaction and are trying to hush up a certain scandal, in this case a criminal one, because in the video the people’s deputy clearly offers a bribe to an official, a patrol inspector,” he noted.
According to Sakvarelidze, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs “blew himself up on a mistake.”
“It will be difficult for the interior minister to speak in the Verkhovna Rada, since the political opposition will constantly remind him of this,” the former deputy prosecutor general stressed.
The policeman was offered an award
The people’s deputy also expressed confidence that the head of the Servant of the People faction, David Arakhamia, could not have been unaware of the incident.
Former adviser to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Zoryan Shkiryak offered to reward the policeman who publicized the scandalous video with Trukhin.
“The policeman who told this is an honest guy who adequately fulfills his duty to the state and to the people of Ukraine. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to policeman Serhiy Petrik and the entire patrol police. We are proud that we have raised worthy and conscious guys. Because The $150,000 bribe offered to him by a drunken scumbag deputy, the so-called “servant of the people,” is his 20-year salary,” Shkiryak said.
What was on the scandalous video with Trukhin
The Ukrayinska Pravda publication published a video from the chest cameras of the police officers who were at the scene of the accident, in which the name of the people’s deputy from the Servant of the People Oleksandr Trukhin appears. It follows from the video that the deputy wanted to escape from the scene of the incident, offered to “thank” the police and hinted that he had a bag of money in his car.
Trukhin can be heard addressing the policeman with the words: “Let me quietly go into the forest,” and then promises to “talk” to Interior Minister Denis Monastyrsky.
He also stated that he was not driving the car involved in the accident.
Zelensky demanded to sort out
President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the scandalous video with Trukhin.
“Despite the fact that deputies or any officials, any person of any profession – everyone must be equal before the law, so everyone must be held accountable. And, believe me, everyone will definitely be held accountable for this. Regardless of what kind of misconduct or this serious offence,” he said.
He also noted that deputies should bear special responsibility:
“You are a deputy, you are an example, therefore you must bear special responsibility. I expect just such a reaction from our law enforcement officers and deputies of the Servant of the People party.
