“I’m ashamed”: Trukhin said what he was ready for after the whole truth about the accident and the bribe

People’s Deputy Alexander Trukhin from the Servant of the People faction said that he was ready to bear responsibility for his actions and lay down his deputy mandate if the situation and the team required it.

“I am aware of my political responsibility and understand the decision of my fellow party members and colleagues in the faction … I do not hide the fact that I wanted to leave the scene of the accident as soon as possible. I was aware of my status as a people’s deputy, and I envisaged the public outcry that the accident would lead to, regardless of whether I or not. I did not run away and did not hide from the scene of the accident even before the arrival of the police, but I wanted to leave when assistance was already provided to all participants in the accident. If the team and the situation force me to resign my mandate, I am ready to bear this responsibility as well “– said the People’s Deputy.

Trukhin added that he was sincerely sorry that he was at the epicenter of this scandal.

“Regarding my behavior at the scene of the accident. I am ashamed. In my state of shock, I really said a lot of stupid things that I would not normally repeat. I would like to apologize to everyone who was affected by my reaction in a state of shock.”– he said.

The People’s Deputy added that his behavior “is hardly justifiable.”

“I understand that now many are outraged by emotions and the desire to attribute all possible crimes to me, but I did not give bribes to anyone, I did not take bribes, and thank God, as a result of the accident, everyone remained alive and well”Trukhin said.

In addition, the politician said that over the past five months he has fully cooperated with law enforcement officers, carried out investigative measures, testified and provided all the information to the SBI and the National Police.

“And if necessary, I am ready to go through it again until the investigation is completed”– summed up the People’s Deputy.

What is known about the accident

• The accident occurred on August 23, 2021 in the Darnitsky district of Kiev. Six people were seriously injured in it, including employees of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF).
• According to preliminary information, the car in which the people’s deputy was allegedly located, without keeping a safe distance, drove into another car moving ahead. A third vehicle was also damaged.
• The site “Today” figured out the situation with the accident. According to the information that we received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Trukhin was indeed in the car that provoked the accident on the Borispol highway. But the police still have not established whether the deputy was driving.
• Note that the State Bureau of Investigation also did not establish whether people’s deputy Trukhin was driving at the time of the accident.
• Also on the eve of the media published a video from the chest cameras of the police officers who were at the scene of the accident, in which the name of the people’s deputy from the “Servant of the People” Alexander Trukhin appears. It follows from the video that the deputy wanted to escape from the scene of the incident, offered to “thank” the police and hinted that he had a bag of money in his car.
• After that, Trukhin was expelled from the Servant of the People party. The corresponding decision was made by the head of the party, Elena Shulyak, on February 2. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky supported the party’s decision.
• The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported that the department had nothing to do with Trukhin’s case for a long time, since it was almost immediately transferred to the State Bureau of Investigation, having found out that the people’s deputy was a participant in the accident.
• In turn, the State Bureau of Investigation stated that they had not previously seen the video from the chest camera of a policeman, which was published by the media.
