(ANSA) – TRIESTE, 05 FEB – A car traveled the east carriageway (towards Trieste) in the wrong direction and then collided with another car that was proceeding in the overtaking lane, in the right direction of travel, whose driver is dead. It happened this morning around 9 on the motorway junction in the section between Monfalcone Est and Duino towards Trieste.
The traffic police intervened on the spot and are reconstructing the dynamics exactly. The car traveling along the ring road in the correct direction of travel caught fire immediately on impact and the driver died. 118 are also operating, the fire brigade, the Autovie Venete staff and the mechanical rescue vehicles. Around 9.45 am the section between Monfalcone Est and Duino and the Monfalcone junction towards Trieste were closed. Also closed the section between Sistiana and Monfalcone Est towards Venice to allow the arrival of help.
Queues have formed between the Lisert barrier and Redipuglia for those coming from Venice and traffic is directed immediately after the Lisert tollbooth towards the state road 14. (ANSA).
