(ANSA) – BARI, 05 FEB – There could be an intimidating act relating to a sale procedure, at the origin of the explosion that on 27 October damaged the front door and part of the ceiling of the “Galleria Commerciale” in via Roma in Modugno, in the Bari area. It is the investigative hypothesis on which the carabinieri are at work, coordinated by the Bari Public Prosecutor’s Office. The investigation into the damage led to the arrest of the two alleged perpetrators, the 50-year-old Vincenzo Pellicani and the 49-year-old Michele Cavallo, both convicted. The first, with numerous precedents for detaining explosives, would have physically placed the device, while the accomplice would have accompanied him by car and then waited to allow him to escape. The two arrested, now in prison, were identified thanks to the images of surveillance cameras.
The military, in addition to ascertaining the dynamics of the damage, are working to reconstruct the motive. The premises in question, owned by a bank, are for sale and, as far as is known, there was an interested buyer. It is not excluded that the alleged intimidation act was connected to the sale.
