The Prime Minister, Mario Draghi, came to the Elysée, to participate in the working dinner wanted by the French president, Emmanuel Macron, to discuss the military presence in the Sahel, before the expected announcement on the withdrawal of soldiers from Mali after nine years military mission with an anti-jihadist function. Upon his arrival in the courtyard of the presidential palace in Paris, Draghi was warmly welcomed, with hugs and smiles, by the president of France.
The main objective of the Paris meeting, attended by several European and African leaders, is to confirm the withdrawal of French and European troops from Mali but also to evaluate a regional redeployment to continue the fight against terrorism in the Sahel. New announcements on the matter could arrive tomorrow, on the occasion of a press conference convened for nine at the Elysée, before the EU-Africa summit scheduled in Brussels.
