Since our country has been severely hit by the sudden and unexpected emergence of such a far-reaching health emergency, the operators of these categories have suddenly found themselves on the front line to face an enemy in many ways unknown. It is thanks to their professional preparation and their spirit of sacrifice that it was possible to stem the risk of losses even greater than those, already very painful, that we had to suffer.
Investments and new strategies are planned to ensure a better quality of care and assistance, to increase the capacity for prevention, to restore centrality to the person and the territory in which they live: but the effectiveness of the reforms, as always, is linked to the quality and commitment of those who actually make it live with their work and their passion. What has happened in these difficult years is a reason for reassurance for Italians.
Today, therefore, is an opportunity for me and for all the Italian people to pay homage to the commitment of the health and voluntary workers and to join us in the grateful and painful memory of those who have paid with the extreme sacrifice their inclination to altruism. “This is what the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, wrote on the occasion of the day of the health personnel.
