Scheuer wants the fuel price brake

Federal Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer wants to intervene in fuel prices of two euros or more. If the price of fuel jumps over two euros, politicians must have the strength to intervene, he told “Bild Live”. But “thank God” we are still a few steps away from these prices.

He can obviously imagine measures for tax or commuter allowance. With a view to the general election in just under three weeks, he warned: “If there is a left-wing republic, mobility will also be more expensive.”

The Green Chancellor candidate Annalena Baerbock called Scheuer’s statements an “absolute cardboard comrade debate”. “It is perfectly clear that the change in the automotive industry is taking place primarily because everything is not regulated by price, but that there is a clear exit date for the fossil combustion engine,” said Baerbock on Monday in Rostock after an election campaign.

In the past few years as Minister of Transport, Scheuer had not only “sunk billions with his toll debacle, but with his idleness he also ensured that our loading station infrastructure was catastrophic across Germany,” said Baerbock. (dpa)
