(ANSA) – ASSISI (PERUGIA), 02 MAR – A large flag with the colors of the iris, illuminated by torches, was deployed in front of the entrance to the Lower Basilica of Assisi to ask for peace in Ukraine. An event promoted by the Municipality and the Peace Table together with the Franciscan Families.
Many, religious and non-religious, took part in the initiative.
With them several mayors with the tricolor band. Among others, Stefania Proietti, mayor of Assisi and president of the Province of Perugia, and the promoter of the peace march Flavio Lotti took the floor.
“We are here to demonstrate for peace – said Proietti – and we feel close to the mayors of the affected Ukrainian cities. We are over 350 in this square, even a light that turns us on in the night can give life to hope”.
“The life of people, including women and children, has less value than geopolitical balances, than affirmed strategic guarantees” underlined the custodian of the Sacred Convent of Assisi fra Marco Moroni in a message on the “San Francesco” website. (HANDLE).
