Also for this second term, the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, asked the Mef to reduce his personal allowance, established by law, to an extent equal to the pension he received from INPS for his years as a university professor. Therefore, the expected annual sum of 239,182 euros gross is reduced by about 60 thousand euros, bringing the annual gross amount to be received to 179,835.84 euros. This was announced by the Quirinale. At the same time, adds the Quirinale, President Mattarella confirmed the renunciation, also for the new seven-year period, of the adjustment of the personal allowance to the consumer price index (Istat adjustment) which would have resulted in an increase of approximately 16 thousand euros. Finally, according to the regulations in force, the President of the Republic does not receive (nor will he receive in the future) the payment of the pension (annuity) as a former parliamentarian.
