On April 24 Extraordinary Peace March for Ukraine

Ukraine, Mollicone (FdI):

(ANSA) – PERUGIA, 23 MAR – It will be an “extraordinary edition” on the eve of the Liberation Day, especially picking up the cry of Pope Francis “Stop! War is madness”, that of the March of peace and of PerugiAssisi fraternity promoted for Sunday 24 April. Organized “while the war is raging in Ukraine and in many other parts of the world”, as recalled by Flavio Lotti, soul of the organizing committee, during the presentation press conference that took place in the Umbrian capital. “It will be there in a month, but the March begins today for what all this can generate in the meantime, to multiply the peace initiatives,” he said.

“Since February 24 – said Lotti – the war has been advancing, killing innocents, reducing cities into cemeteries, threatening atomic catastrophe and the third world war.

With each passing day, the clash escalates and the war becomes more inhuman and blind, destroying any remaining space of peace.

Let’s stop the war now, before it’s too late. “

According to what was announced by the organizers, it will be a March “of those who make peace and not of those who only invoke it”. And it will therefore be “of people who take care of others, once again with schools at the center with children committed to peace and fraternity”. “A PerugiAssisi that we never wanted to call” concluded Lotti.

“We would have liked to summon the people of peace – commented Stefania Proietti – to widen the peace and not to stop a war”.

Giuseppe Giulietti, president of the Fnsi, spoke on the phone, recalled that the National Federation of the press will be on the march from Perugia to Assisi, also announcing an initiative scheduled the day before. “We will come to Assisi – he said – with a delegation of Ukrainian, Belarusian and Russian journalists to launch an appeal to help all those independent newspapers and voices that have closed or are about to close because of this war”.
