(ANSA) – NAPLES, 01 APR – “In recent days in Naples there was a memory of the innocent victims of the mafias and from Naples the awareness that the enormous patrimony of the mafias will be returned to the state and citizens in terms of employment , economic development and schial development “. This was stated by Paolo Gentiloni, European commissioner for economic and monetary affairs, speaking in a video at the Confiscated Assets Forum which began today in Naples. Gentiloni recalled that “they are days and weeks in which the war in Ukraine has repercussions on the humanitarian and economic level in the EU and are at the center of attention but we must not lose sight of the internal challenges that we are called to face and the reforms, starting with carrying out an investment and the reforms envisaged by the Pnrr plan, a unique challenge on which the future is at stake. The Pnrr is making available 300 million euros to enhance the assets confiscated from the mafia with special interventions. To these resources are added other EU structural funds with the regional development fund. If we compare this figure with 56 million in the 2014-20 national program for the recovery of assets confiscated from the mafias, we have a clear measure of the qualitative leap that Italy can make with large funds put by the Pnrr. Now we need to implement the measures and spend the resources and the administrative bureaucratic machine needs to make a qualitative leap, I remember in fact that and 63% of the municipalities where the confiscated assets are present do not have access to the platform. On this, I remind you that the enhancement of confiscated assets must be part of the strategy for combating organized crime.

There can be no development and growth without community “. (ANSA).
