Marine Le Pen held Thursday in Avignon her first big meeting of the between-two rounds of the presidential election. A speech in front of nearly 4,000 people where the candidate spoke about purchasing power, Europe or even youth. So many themes that appealed to the activists present, as noted by Europe 1.
Reassure the French about his ability to govern
The RN candidate arrives from the back of the room, goes on stage and hammers the differences between two visions of France which, according to her, are opposed in the second round: hers, that of a popular bloc, against that of Emmanuel Macron , an elite block.
She unfolds her program, responds to the attacks of her opponents. Because with this speech the objective is to establish his presidential stature but also to reassure the French about the credibility of his project and his ability to govern.
“Viva Marine”
Barely finished the speech, the quest is organized at the exit of the exhibition center of Avignon. The activists give a few coins, or 5 or 10 euro notes, convinced by the one they call Marine. “She’s extraordinary, she’s a great woman. Long live Marine”, launches one of them. “She is too beautiful, too strong and she speaks too well”, outbids another.
If his person almost amazes his voters, his program in favor of the working classes also seduces. “What strikes me the most in his program is the purchasing power”, explains an activist.
“A speech for all”
After two failures in 2012 and 2017, this time the public is convinced: victory is within reach. “I find her more composed. We see that she has worked, that she has learned from her mistakes and I think it’s now or never,” says a voter before continuing. “Today I really think that Emmanuel Macron is beatable. Marine has a people’s speech and it’s a speech for everyone.”
Marine Le Pen, the people’s candidate. It is in any case the label that she claims against Emmanuel Macron. A strategy to capture the electorate of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who could well be the referee of the second round.
