‘South innovation pole’. Carfagna, challenge passes through the Pnrr

Homotransphobia, Zan:

(by the correspondent Maurizio Dente) (ANSA) – SORRENTO, MAY 14 – “The political leaders who are confronted directly in the South are the signal of an important change of pace.” The Minister for Territorial Cohesion Mara Carfagna underlines this fact at the conclusion of the “Towards the South” Forum organized in Sorrento. The event – which should become “an annual meeting place between companies and business communities” – saw the interventions of 10 ministers as well as politicians and economists from the Mediterranean area. “It emerged – added Carfagna – a South no longer like Cinderella of Italy to help with subsidies and bonuses, but as an area that can grow more, with its own legs, to compete with the rest of Europe and with the world”. A South technological hub, pole of innovation: objectives which, however, Carfagna warns, pass above all “to the full implementation of the NRP” The picture of how much road remains to be done is in the numbers of the Minister for Economy Daniele Franco who defined ” huge “the gap between the GDP of the South and that of the North of the country:” After a period of great recovery after the war, no substantial progress has been made since the 1980s. The GDP per capita in the South is 55% of that of the North. If more robust growth rates are to be obtained – Franco warned – it is crucial to restart the convergence between the two areas of the country “. Of course, there is the PNRR, “a new opportunity,” which “alone, however, is not enough” – warns the Minister of Economy – “we must use all the funds available and know how to spend the resources”.

The Minister for Regional Affairs Maria Stella Gelmini prepares a framework law on autonomy intended to “dispel the cliché of a North as opposed to the South”. The prospect of the South – for Gelmini – is to become “a technological hub projected towards Africa and the Middle East”. A challenge for which – underlines PA Minister Renato Brunetta – “training is” crucial “. (ANSA).
