In Spain 8 possible cases of monkeypox identified

Spanish health authorities have activated a monkeypox alert after eight suspected cases were identified in Madrid, which are currently under investigation. This was reported by the main Iberian media.
According to El País, the Spanish authorities have activated the alert phase after some cases were reported in Portugal and the United Kingdom. All the cases so far diagnosed or suspected, adds the newspaper, would have been found among men who have had sexual relations with other men.
Similar to the disease that affects humans, monkeypox is not serious and is usually cured within a few weeks. The symptoms with which it occurs are mainly fever, headache and muscle and back pain. A rash may also occur in some cases.
The Spanish health authorities are analyzing suspected cases to confirm or discard them and identify possible chains of transmission. (HANDLE).
