M5s: Naples Court holds case for decision

Mattarella:

On the request for suspension of the latest votes, M5s judge of the Court of Naples “withheld the case for decision”. This is what we learn from sources of the activists who presented the appeal.

The hearing in front of Judge Loredana Ferrara of the VII civil section of the Court of Naples lasted two hours on the appeal presented by a group of members of the 5 Star Movement against the decision of the Neapolitan judges to deem the statute with which he was elected to the office of president of the Movement founded by the former premier Giuseppe Conte by Beppe Grillo. The decision of the judge, who reserved himself, is expected at the end of the council chamber, probably in the next few days. “It was a very intense discussion, – said the lawyer Lorenzo Borrè, lawyer of the applicants – it took two hours to expose the points of attack and defense and this demonstrates the substance of the matter. We put on the table the absence of the assembly method, the fulcrum of democracy: there was no possibility of proposing alternatives and the absence of the possibility of competing for candidacy by members both as regards the presidency and the other associative positions means that the ABC of democracy is lacking “. “We trust in our good reasons but the final word belongs to the judge”. The lawyer Francesco Astone, who represents the movement founded by Beppe Grillo together with his colleagues Francesco Cardarelli and Claudio Consolo, who could not be present at the hearing today, also spoke of an “articulated discussion”. “The applicants – said Astone – insisted on their observations, with an essentially formal content, which the Movement rejects. In our opinion – concluded Astone – there are a series of formal complaints that the Movement considers instrumental”.
