An all-female challenge with uncertain and not obvious final results: the countwdown for the ballot of Viterbo starts. To contend the capital Chiara Frontini, with a civic candidacy, and the dem Alessandra Troncarelli. Frontini, outgoing councilor, formerly of the National Alliance, exponent of civil society, supported by six lists including IoApro together with Vittorio Sgarbi’s ‘Rinascimento’, is the third time that she runs to become the first citizen. Troncarelli, councilor of the council of the president of the Lazio Region, Nicola Zingaretti, supported by 8 lists including the Democratic Party, the 5 Star Movement, candidates for Action in the civic “Viterbo, seriously” and the ‘exiles’ of Forza Italia with the list’ Viterbo Cresce ‘, led by the outgoing mayor Giovanni Arena, finished second in the first round with 27.9%. Officially the councilor would not have given way to new alliances in view of the second round. Even the councilor Frontini, before her in the first round with 33.08%, stressed that she will arrive at the ballot without appearances.
In Viterbo, the center-right could be the ruler. He presented himself divided in the first round – with Fratelli d’Italia who in fact supported the outgoing deputy mayor Laura Allegrini, who came third with 16.74%, while the Lega, Forza Italia and Udc supported Claudio Ubertini, who finished fourth with the 8th , 53% – the cdx in the ballot could decree the victory or defeat of one of the two candidates. FdI has already clearly indicated that it will not support a candidate of the Democratic Party and the 5-star Movement, therefore total closure towards Councilor Troncarelli.
The center-left was perhaps hoping for support from the moderates initially deployed for Ubertini but, at the moment, the regional coordinator of the League, Claudio Durigon, dismissed this hypothesis by brandishing any support for Troncarelli as “madness” and not leaning on Frontini.
For Troncarelli it was therefore Zingaretti who took the field: “On June 26, everyone will vote for the ballot. Now let’s take action alongside the candidates and the candidates”, he wrote on Twitter.
