Paolo Romani under investigation in Monza for embezzlement

(ANSA) – MONZA, 14 JUL – The Prosecutor of Monza has entered Paolo Romani, senator of Cambiamo! In the register of suspects for embezzlement! and previously of Forza Italia. According to the accusations, he subtracted 350 thousand euros from the accounts of his previous party, in part by making them “ferry” through a collaboration with the entrepreneur Domenico Pedico, who is also under investigation. This was announced by the Monza Public Prosecutor’s Office. Already summoned for questioning, Romani made use of the right not to answer, but made spontaneous statements reserving the right to produce subsequent documentation.

The investigation carried out by the Special Currency Police Unit of the Milan Finance Police, coordinated by the Monza Attorney Claudio Gittardi, started with some reports of suspicious transactions on the blue accounts. Thus the yellow flames ascertained how the senator, between 2013 and 2018, at the time leader of the PDL and then Fi, “having the availability of sums of money lying” in the party’s account at a bank of “Palazzo Madama and headed to the Forza Italia group and with a proxy in its favor “, reads the charges,” appropriated the total amount of 83 thousand euros “, by means of three checks issued in its signature” and in its name “, and then deposited them on its own current account, in a branch in Cinisello Balsamo (Milan).

The yellow flames have reconstructed two other similar operations. The first for over 180 thousand euros moved to the account of the entrepreneur Pedico, and to that of ‘CarontGraft D&K srl’, currently in liquidation, always attributable to the entrepreneur. Money then diverted by Pedico to his personal accounts, and then returned to Romans, through other bank checks. The senator would also have used approximately 95 thousand euros for personal expenses and for the payment of services or professionals that do not comply with the regulations of the Senate of the Republic.
