(ANSA) – BARI, 27 JUL – With a post on Facebook the mayor of Bari and president Anci Antonio Decaro, suggests his decision not to run for the next political elections on 25 September. In the post, Decaro admits that he “thought” about it after “the party” also asked him to “go and help Rome”. But, he specifies, “Bari is my city and I cannot betray it”. His second term as mayor of the Apulian capital will expire in 2024.
Within minutes of its publication, the post received thousands of ‘likes’. Many, writes Decaro on Fb, “have told me these days ‘You should go and help Rome’.
Citizens, friends, the party. I admit, I’ve thought about it. Because I believe that those who make politics must be involved in the first person.
