Agreement between the Democratic Party and Action- + Europe in view of the elections on 25 September. The totality of the candidates in the single-member constituencies of the coalition will be divided between Democrats and Progressives and Action / + Europe to the extent of 70% (Democratic Party) and 30% (+ Europe / Action), deducting from the total of the constituencies those that will be attributed to the others electoral alliance lists. This ratio will be applied to the different groups of colleges that will be identified by mutual agreement. The parties undertake to request that the speaking time allotted to the coalition in television broadcasts be shared in the same percentages applied to the constituencies. This can be read in the text of the agreement signed today.

“A moment to announce that following a meeting with delegations from the two parties we have signed an agreement, which we believe is very important, an electoral pactwithin a broader agreement with other components that we believe are fundamental to be successful against the right. “This was said by the secretary of the Democratic Party, Enrico Letta, at a press conference in the House.

For the Democratic Party the meeting was also attended by the group leaders of the Chamber and Senate, Debora Serracchiani and Simona Malpezzi, and the coordinator of the secretariat, Marco Meloni. For More Europe there are Benedetto Della Vedova and Riccardo Magi.

“We come with a constructive spirit, it is not difficult if there is the will”, said the leader of Action entering Montecitorio.

“We are the only ones so free and courageous that we even go alone to do the third pole”, reiterates Matteo Renzi in the meantime speaking to RTL. The leader of IV thinks it is an “excellent idea” to be able to do it with Carlo Calenda. But – he adds – “I don’t want to pretend to decide the things of others. I prefer to stay on the contents. But the real point is that everyone does his own accounts, on the one hand there is the need to tell citizens about a credible project and on the other. another to say: ‘if we are together, I am more relaxed because I know how many seats are available’ “.

Yesterday the Action leader proposed to the Pd secretary: “Let’s meet with Più Europa and close in one direction or another”. Letta collected: “Let’s meet, but without preclusions, no to vetoes and no to counter”. The conditions imposed by Calenda concern single-member constituencies: in order not to discourage its voters ,, Action does not want Luigi Di Maio, the secretary of Si Nicola Fratoianni and the Greens co-spokesman Andrea Bonelli as candidates: “If the answer is ‘No’ then , dear Enrico Letta, the responsibility for the breakup will be entirely yours “, explains Carlo Calenda bluntly. The secretary of the Democratic Party replies by launching an appeal: “Let us proceed, without reciprocal vetoes, to build an alliance”, because “every division would represent a gift to the right”. Then the reply on the candidates rejected by the Action leader: “This theme of giving the right to the stands to the various souls of the center-left is not to be derided or made fun of”, because “the commitment of the Democratic Party is to build alliances that are broad and that allow us to be strong and competitive: we want to win, not participate “. Which is not just a matter of names. “Action and More Europe are estimated at 4.4% in coalition with the Democratic Party – calculates YouTrend – instead at 3.3% outside the center”. But it is also true that a failure to alliance would cost 16 colleges in the center-left and Action / + Europe.
