“Five years have passed since the tragedy caused by the earthquake that hit the island of Ischia on 21 August 2017, in particular the municipalities of Casamicciola Terme, Forio and Lacco Ameno. In the recurrence of the catastrophic event, I would first like to remember the victims and with them the pain of the family members, to whom I express my feelings of closeness. At the same time I would like to express gratitude, for the immediate intervention they have ensured, to the Civil Protection, the Fire Brigade, the Police Forces and the Red Cross, as well as for the intervention of those who have given themselves to show their solidarity commitment towards those who at that time were in conditions of vulnerability. Today it is necessary to develop a rapid path of reconstruction, capable of removing the harmful effects of the earthquake, making use of of the common commitment of the affected populations, of the union of efforts among citizens and of the collaboration between institutions and civil society “.
