Pension reform: for Valérie Rabault, “everything is possible by Thursday”

Valérie Rabault, vice-president of the National Assembly, was the guest of Europe morning on Tuesday. At the microphone of Sonia Mabrouk, the PS deputy from Tarn-et-Garonne returned to the pension reform, currently being debated in Parliament. For Valérie Rabault, “everything is possible by Thursday”, the date on which the National Assembly will definitively vote on the text.

After the National Assembly, then the Senate, place the Joint Joint Commission. The text of the pension reform desired by the government continues its parliamentary route, despite the strong opposition of the left and the skepticism of part of the right around the bill.

As of next Thursday, the text will again be voted on by the deputies. But while waiting for this vote, very “uncertain” recognize the elected representatives of the Renaissance group, “everything is possible”, assures Valérie Rabault at the microphone of Europe 1. The government still wishes to avoid the use of 49.3, but their relative majority complicates the situation.

“They want to force through”

“The bottom line is that they want to pass a reform against which a majority of French people are against. So they want to force through, and they will use the tools of the Constitution, which are at their disposal” , Judge the Vice-President of the National Assembly. “But we too will use the resistance that the Constitution allows us”, continues the PS deputy from Tarn-et-Garonne.

But the skepticism of some of the elected representatives of the right did not fail to challenge Valérie Rabault: “What I see is that at Les Républicains (LR), there are hesitants because they make it clear that even if they agreed with raising the retirement age to 64, all the government’s announcements are bogus,” she said.

Government “lie”

For example, “today there are 200,000 people out of the 800,000 who retire each year, who leave with less than 1,000 euros per month. The government made them believe that they would now have 1,200 euros per month. And in fact, out of the 200,000, you will have between 10,000 and 20,000 people who will be affected by the measure”, she is alarmed, denouncing “a big lie that we have discovered” explains the socialist deputy.

Something to disturb some of the LRs, but also members of the majority, who have announced that they will not vote for the reform, like the former Minister of Ecology, Barbara Pompili.
