Pension reform: “We had a complete legislative process”, assures Yaël Braun-Pivet

The day after the use of Article 49.3 of the Constitution to have the pension reform adopted, Yaël Braun-Pivet was the guest of Europe Matin on Friday. According to the President of the National Assembly, the “complete legislative process” was respected.

Is this an admission of weakness, a failure, the start of a political crisis? In the aftermath of the use of 49.3 to have its pension reform adopted, the executive is in the spotlight. “No, we are not in a political crisis”, argued the President of the National Assembly Yaël Braun-Pivet, guest of Europe Matin on Friday.

“The National Assembly is not a place for political happenings”

The President of the National Assembly also regrets the boos of the opposition in the hemicycle of the National Assembly, when Elisabeth Borne engaged the responsibility of her government on the pension reform by 49.3. “The National Assembly is not a place of political happening, it is not a ZAD or an amphi, it is not a place of demonstration”, she launched.

Especially since a “complete legislative process” has taken place, she said. “The passage in force could mean a shortened parliamentary debate. In this case, the 49.3 used by the government, does not come to interrupt the debates, the debates took place, unfortunately with a lot of obstruction to the National Assembly. They took place in the Senate, there was a vote. And there was a meeting of parliamentarians which was conclusive. We finally had a complete legislative process, “she said.

“Efforts have been made. The age has moved back, we have gone from 65 to 64 years old. The text which will perhaps be adopted will be the text resulting from social and political negotiation”, she added. .

LFI will support the motion of censure of the Liot group

The day after the use of 49.3, Jean-Luc Mélenchon announced that France insoumise (LFI) was going to support the motion of censure of the group of independents (Liot) in the National Assembly.

For its part, the inter-union expresses its anger. About 200 demonstrators gathered at the call of the CGT, block traffic on the Paris ring road this Friday morning. And in Normandy, the CGT announced the shutdown of the TotalEnergies refinery this weekend.
