On Wednesday, the vote of the Congress of the members of the Republicans begins, the candidate will be appointed next Saturday at 2:30 p.m. sharp. The last sprint begins for the five candidates in the running: Xavier Bertrand, Philippe Juvin, Michel Barnier, Éric Ciotti and Valérie Pécresse. Tomorrow, they are organizing their last public meetings.

Very smart the one who can predict the results of the LR congress. The element that makes predictions impossible is the increase in memberships. The Republicans have gone from 80,000 to 140,000 members in two months, and it is difficult at the moment to know who will benefit from this increase. The five candidates for the nomination will have their last public meeting tomorrow: Xavier Bertrand will be in Rillieux-la-Pape (Rhône) and Valérie Pécresse in Boulogne-Billancourt in the Hauts-de-Seine. Michel Barnier is now in Aix-les-Bains in Savoy. They will debate for the last time on Tuesday, the day before the first round.

A sequence that they will not have the right to miss. Opponents of the LR are determined not to leave media space for the nominated candidate next weekend. At the same time, Marine Le Pen will be in Warsaw alongside other European leaders of the nationalist right. Éric Zemmour will hold his big meeting at the Zénith in Paris the next day, Sunday 5 December.

Big meeting on December 11

The following week promises to be decisive as well. This is when the Republicans will have to start the dynamic a few months before the presidential election. For this, they will be able to count on the entry into the campaign of heavyweights which had not hitherto taken sides, such as Laurent Wauquiez or Bruno Retailleau, and on a large meeting around the winner of the congress on December 11 at Porte de Versailles in Paris.
