“We all cheer for the restart on January 10, but if the scientists advised us, it would not be a tragedy to postpone it to the beginning of February”. This was declared to Corriere della Sera by the president of Veneto Luca Zaia, who for such a decision hopes for “a national direction”. “It takes intellectual honesty to warn citizens – argues the governor – if the epidemiological data were to worsen, the hypothesis of the postponement of the date of return to class is on the table”. Veneto made this choice last year, Zaia recalls, “and so we were saved”.

The governor then launches a proposal to the government “to evaluate the introduction of self-monitoring at school”, which consists in giving “all students, once or twice a week, a kit for the do-it-yourself test”. In this way, explains Zaia, “we would be able to intercept the positives before the contagion spreads”.
