(ANSA) – SOFIA, 21 FEB – The 73rd edition of the Strandja International Tournament has begun in Sofia, one of the most important competitions on the international boxing scene and, starting this year, part of the Golden Gloves Series Iba (International Boxing Association).
350 boxers from 36 nations take part in the event, which will end next Sunday, February 27, with the dispute of the finals. 29 blues (19 men and 10 women) flew to the Bulgarian capital to participate in this ‘contest’ that opens a year full of commitments for Italy Boxing Team. The Azzurri, in fact, will face the Under 22 European Championships (11-24 March in Croatia) and the Elite ones (21-31 May, in Armenia), while the Italians will compete in the Elite World Championships in Istanbul from 6 to 21 May.
The Italian boxing team of coach Emanuele Renzini in Sofia will send some of its spearheads to the ring, such as Abbes Mouhiidine, Manuel Cappai, Roberta Bonatti, Giordana Sorrentino and Susie Canfora, and new recruits with great prospects, including Erika Prisciandaro , Michele Baldassi, and Sirine Chaarabi.
