Ukraine, Borrell:

The usual basketball party, with 19,400 enthusiastic spectators, including an ecstatic Gianmarco Tamberi (“I don’t live without dreams, it can’t really be Michael Jordan, it can’t be true. It’s simply all CRAZY”, wrote the Olympian on social media of the high who took part in the ‘Celebrity Game’ last Friday), with 50 points and 16 triples by Stephen Curry who, in the end, gave the Lebron team a 163-160 victory over Team Durant. The latter, the ace from Brooklyn, was absent at the last minute due to the death of his grandmother.
The All Star Game 2022 held in the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland was all this, and the demonstration that, sometimes, even in the States there is cheering against. In fact, at the time of the announcement of the players who would then take the field, Curry was booed loudly by the public, due to the many displeasures given in the NBA Finals to the Cleveland fans beaten by his Golden State Warriors. Only once, in 2016, did the team of which Lebron James belonged at the time managed to prevail. And precisely the number 6 of the Lakers, like Curry from Ohio, was another of the protagonists of the star game, with the shot that, in the second finals, gave him the certainty of victory.

“I couldn’t have wished for a better moment than what just happened,” James commented immediately after the game. But for Lebron it was not the only great emotion: it also happened when, in the interval of the All-Star Game, 45 of the 76 selected as the best players in the history of the NBA were awarded and ‘paraded’. such as Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Jerry West, Clyde Drexler, Isiah Thomas, Patrick Ewing, Dennis Rodman, David Robinson, Charles Barkley, Dominique Wilkins, Julius Erving, and others. All of them have made the league celebrating its 75th anniversary a tournament of global interest. Amidst the gods of basketball, today’s phenomena have found their idols from when they were children or teenagers, a feeling highlighted by the intensity of the hug James gave Jordan. “I could not miss the opportunity – said James – to shake my hand and hold the idol of my childhood”. And Curry: “Hard to describe what I felt among all those champions: I felt like a kid in a big candy store”. Giannis Antetokounmpo was still incredulous that he could “finally” meet Michael Jordan: “I went to introduce myself and he told me that he knew very well who I was … oh my, what a thrill”. Incredulous, and visibly happy, also Luka Doncic, the Slovenian phenomenon announced tomorrow, but at that moment he too became a child again.
