Boxing: Merhy-Tishchenko light highs canceled

Ukraine, Lavrov:

The WBA and WBO light heavyweight World Championship is no longer held between the Belgian Ryad Merhy and the Russian Olympic champion in Rio 2016 Evgeny Tishchenko, who in the quarterfinals of the Olympic tournament in Rio de Janeiro beat the blue Clemente Russo with a very contested verdict by the Campania fighter and also ended up in the crosshairs of those who investigate the scandal verdicts of Olympic boxing.
Tishchenko’s World Cup against Merhy was supposed to take place on March 26 in Ekaterinburg, but although the two parties concerned had decided not to sanction it, and therefore to consider it valid, in light of the international situation determined by the Russian invasion in Ukraine, the organizers decided to delete it. The subclou was therefore also canceled, in which another Russian, Magomed Kurbanov, would have had to face the Brazilian Patrick Teixeira in a ‘semifinal’ match for the superwelter world title.
