Ice: absolute short tracks, M.Valcepina and Sighel shine

(ANSA) – ROME, MARCH 11 – First emotions and results in Bormio (Sondrio) on the opening day of the Absolute 2022 short track, on the ice of the federal technical center. The challenges on 500 and 1500 meters saw Martina Valcepina and Pietro Sighel prevail. The Valtellinese and the young man from Trentino won in both scheduled tests, projecting themselves to the top of the overall standings. Leadership to be confirmed tomorrow, when the 1000m races and the 3000m super finals will complete the important round of approaching the World Championships in April in Montreal (Canada).

Valcepina won her 500 meters in front of her sister Arianna and Nicole Botter Gomez, third to complete the podium with Elena Viviani fourth classified. In the 1500s she double for Valcepina, this time with Gloria Ioriatti on the podium. With two Italian titles already insured, Martina Valcepina leads the general with 68 points ahead of her sister Arianna and Viviani.

In the men, Sighel was the great ruler: first over 500 meters ahead of Andrea Cassinelli and Mattia Antonioli, then also victorious over 1500 with Luca Spechenhauser in second position and Yuri Confortola in third.
