Snowboard: Marc Hofer wins parallel slalom in Piancavallo

Employment recovers in 2021 but is not yet at precovid levels (ANSA)

Glory day for the Italian team in the parallel slalom in the stage of the Snowboard World Cup in Piancavallo with a wonderful South Tyrolean brace.
On the snows of Friuli Venezia Giulia Marc Hofer, only eleventh in the qualifying phase, managed to defeat his teammate Edwin Coratti in a big final. The 24-year-old carabiniere from South Tyrol, after eliminating the leader of the general classification, the South Korean Sangho Lee – winner of the small final – in the semifinal, showed off all the best of his repertoire to get his first career victory. Second position for Coratti on the twelfth career podium, fourth in slalom.
But the great day of Italy does not end in the first two positions with six athletes in the first fifteen places. Aaron March finished fifth, followed in seventh by Gabriel Messner and just outside the top ten, eleventh, Roland Fischnaller with Mirko Felicetti, 13th.
Male general classification which, with two races to go, always sees Sangho Lee in the lead with 494 points, followed by the German Stefan Baumeister (now fourth) at 456 and the Russian Dimitrii Loginov, absent today due to the well-known non-sporting events, with 326 points .
In the women’s field, ex aequo victory for the Swiss Julie Zogg and the Japanese Tsubaki Miki, in a very exciting final. Third was the German Ramona Hofmeister who defeated the Austrian Daniela Ulbing in the final. The only two Italians in the race, Nadya Ochner and Lucia Dalmasso, managed to hit the top ten, respectively in seventh and ninth place.
