(ANSA) – ROME, MARCH 14 – The Lega Serie B assembly, gathered by videoconference with all the clubs present, unanimously approved the playoff / playout dates, starting on May 3, and the guidelines of the season 2022/2023, which will start next August 13th.
The playoff dates, proposed by the Governing Council – underlines the Serie B League -, have as their characteristic the format of a single match per day in order to play at times favorable to the fans and as much as possible on the weekend. The playoff calendar includes the preliminary round (single match) on 13th (sixth against seventh) and 14th May (fifth against eighth); the semifinals will be held on 17 and 18 May (first leg) and on 21 and 22 May (return); the final (round trip) on 26 and 29 May. The playout calendar includes the first leg match between 16 / a and 17 / a on May 12 (home) and May 20 (return).
As for the 2022/23 championship, which will start on 13 August and will end on 19 May 2023, it foresees a suspension during the World Cup in Qatar, with the 15th matchday taking place on 12 November and the resumption of boxing day on 26 December. . Only four midweek shifts compared to six in the current season.
During the meeting, the president, Mauro Balata, updated the companies on discussions with the government relating to post-pandemic refreshments. Innovative and strategic commercial relationships have been approved for the future of Serie B which will be announced in the coming weeks and, moreover, the green light for the marketing of the 2021/2022 scouting data base package.
