(ANSA-AFP) – DUBAI, MARCH 14 – Lewis Hamilton will change his name, or rather, he will add his mother’s surname, Carmen Larbalestier, to his. This was revealed by the British driver himself in Dubai.
“My mother is called Larbalestier and I am about to add her name to mine,” Hamilton said speaking at the Dubai World Expo. The change will take place “soon”, added the 37-year-old who should run under the name of Hamilton-Larbalestier. “I have never fully understood the fact that the woman loses her surname when she marries – explained Hamilton – for this reason I want my mother’s surname to appear in the future with Hamilton”.
The seven-time world champion said the name change was “ongoing” but would not happen until the first Grand Prix of the season in Bahrain. Lewis Hamilton spent part of his childhood with his mother after his parents’ divorce (ANSA-AFP).
