The Ferraris set the second and third times in the first free practices of the Bahrain GP, which will open the Formula 1 season on Sunday. The fastest ever was Pierre Gasly (AlphaTauri), with a time of 1: 34.193, who has preceded Charles Leclerc (+0.364) and Carlos Sainz (+0.418), who set the best time with medium tires.
Right behind them are George Russell’s Mercedes (+0.436) and world champion Max Verstappen’s Red Bull (+0.549). Then Lance Stroll (Aston Martin, +0.621) who precedes Lewis Hamilton (+0.750), seventh in the times, and Fernando Alonso (Alpine, +0.807). During the session, Leclerc lost control of Ferrari and spun while trying to set the time, while the Spaniard Sainz found traffic. No lap on the track, however, for the Finnish Valtteri Bottas, who switched from Mercedes to Alfa Romeo, due to an apparent engine problem.
