(ANSA) – MERIBEL, MAR 19 – The German Lena Duerr in 48.55 is in the lead after the first round of the women’s special slalom at the Finals in Meribel, with a cup of discipline already gone to the Slovak Petra Vlhova. Second the Swiss Michelle Gisin in 48.92 and third the Slovenian Ana Bucik in 48.95 while Vlhova has the fourth time in 49.03 and the American Mikaela Shiffrin, winner of the great world cup, is fifth in 49.21.

No blue took part in the race because there are not among the top 25 in the standings admitted to this latest slalom: a fact that certifies the desolating state of Italy in this women’s discipline which has been going on for years now. However, Sofia Goggia, Elena Curtoni, Federica Brignone and Marta Bassino could have participated in this slalom of the Finals as they all have more than 500 points in the general classification. But the first two are also sprinters, while Brignone and Bassino, who during the season have played some special slalom, have preferred to concentrate on tomorrow’s final giant, a discipline in which they certainly perform much better.

Second heat – with a race on snow even today very treacherous and slippery because it was repeatedly treated with salt due to the spring heat – at 13.30 (ANSA).
