(ANSA) – ROME, MARCH 22 – 100 years after the birth of Artemio Franchi, Lega Pro, with the Municipality of Florence, the FIGC and the Coverciano Museum, has organized a series of events from 2 to 4 April to commemorate the great manager of national and world football. Saturday 2, at 12, there will be the inauguration of the Franchi Museum, a photo gallery and an exhibition of relics that belonged to Artemio Franchi, in the Michelozzo courtyard inside Palazzo Vecchio in Florence.
The cutting of the ribbon will be attended by Franchi’s children, Giovanna and Francesco, the presidents of the Lega Pro, Francesco Ghirelli, and of the Tuscany Region, Eugenio Giani, and the mayor, Dario Nardella. At 8.30 on Sunday a wreath of flowers will be placed in the Soffiano cemetery, in the presence of the FIGC president, Gabriele Gravina, but Franchi will also be remembered in the Fiorentina-Empoli pre-match, scheduled for the afternoon in the stadium that is named after him.
Two debates are scheduled at Palazzo Vecchio on Monday morning: “A tale between private life and football” conducted by Marino Bartoletti, with the interventions of Giancarlo Abete, Franco Carraro, Antonio Matarrese, Luciano Nizzola and Carlo Tavecchio, and “Artemio Franchi, the best manager in Italian football “, presented by Marco Cattaneo, with Valentina Vezzali, Milena Bartolini, Roberto Mancini and Ghirelli. Finally, a history Excursus – a complete narration of curiosities and anecdotes from Franchi’s life with connections to Italian football of those years – by the president of the Fondazione Museo del Calcio, Matteo Marani.
